Judge Mark Henry from the Galveston County Commissioners Court

The Friendswood Republican Women are excited to welcome Galveston County's very own Judge Mark Henry to our last meeting of the year on, October 26!  Commissioners Court has done so much to help and improve our County during the years conservative Judge Henry has been at the helm.  Some of the terrific things he’s accomplished, with the support of some Commissioners are: Oversaw the reduction of county debt by over 40%, lowered the county tax rate by 11%, and shrunk the size of county government by 7%!  Recently, Galveston County was also awarded a AAA bond rating by Moody’s - the first time in the county’s history to have a AAA bond rating and the only county along the Texas Gulf Coast to have received one! Moody’s attributed the rating to the conservative fiscal policies of the county government among other things.  BUT, what has happened during and following the tragedy of Hurricane Harvey?  How did our County respond to those desperately in need?  How is Galveston County doing financially now?  What help or lack thereof, did our County get -- from the State and from the Federal Government?  We, the taxpayers in Galveston County, have been very fortunate to have Judge Mark Henry working for us! We will meet for a catered luncheon on Thursday, October 26, from 11:15--12:30pm at the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce, in the heart of Friendswood. Reservations are required and the delicious lunch costs only $13, which includes dessert!  Members and non-members alike are all invited -- including men!  We are also taking new and renewal memberships at this time.  If you have any questions please call Deborah Winters Chaney at: 281-224-7800 and RSVP to: DON'T FORGET TO RSVP!  We look forward to seeing you and your friends on Thursday, October 26, to learn more about what has gone on in our County since Harvey struck.
